Students at Sir Thomas Boughey Academy in Newcastle Celebrate GCSE Results

Students at Sir Thomas Boughey Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results. 

After much hard work studying and preparing, students at the school, which is part of Windsor Academy Trust, are collecting their GCSE results and getting ready to take their next steps in their educational journey.

Sir Thomas Boughey Academy students are now looking forward to progressing onto their chosen further education institutions. 

While all students have done incredibly well, there are some standout individual achievements. These include:

  • Maddy Symonds exceeded her target grades in every subject, achieving an outstanding Level 2 Distinction* in Engineering, a Level 2 Distinction in Performing Arts, and grade 8s in six additional GCSE subjects. 

  • Grace Bailey delivered an exceptional performance in Science to achieve grades 9 and 8, whilst also achieving a grade 8 in Art, Craft and Design. Combined with top grades in Hospitality and Performing Arts, Grace achieved an impressive average grade of 7 across all qualifications. 

  • Taran Gault outperformed his target grades in nine subjects, including a grade 8 in English Language, a Level 2 Distinction in Performing Arts, and multiple grade 7s across a range of subjects. 

  • Thomas Cotterill achieved remarkable results, securing an average of two grades above his target across nine qualifications.

Collecting GCSE results today, 

Alex Weston said: “I’m feeling inspired by such a strong set of results, and excited to study Level 3 Music at Newcastle College.”

Oliver Lewis added: “I’m happy with my results and am looking forward to studying A Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science at college.”

We are pleased to see improvement in GCSE outcomes, demonstrating the power of hard work and a supportive school community. As our students move on to college, sixth form, apprenticeships, training and employment, they are equipped with the knowledge, skills and character needed to succeed. It has been a privilege to have played a part in helping them take this important next step. We wish them every success and happiness in all they go on to achieve.”
