Minnie Pit Memorial Service January 2026

On Sunday 11th January our students took part in the Minnie Pit and Diglake Pit Memorial Service. Here, along with local residents and dignitaries, they were able to pay their respects, on behalf of the school, to the miners who tragically lost their lives in these historic disasters. 

We are extremely proud of the way Ellie, Will, Will, Izzie and Taran represented the school. Will, Taran and Ellie delivered readings whilst Will and Izzie lit candles to represent each of the miners who lost their lives in the Minnie Pit disaster.

Their involvement shows a deep respect for our local history and a commitment to remembering those who so sadly lost their lives. Each of our pupils was presented with a certificate of thanks for the part they had played in this very moving service.
